Host a really Great Bear house party
1. Find out more about what's involved in hosting a house party
2. Contact Greenpeace at standtall@greenpeace.ca to set up your own Great Bear Rainforest house party!
Once you register, Greenpeace will:
- send you a copy of the documentary “The Story of the Great Bear Rainforest”
- send you a Stand Tall toolkit
- post your party to this website
3. Invite your friends
- if you are on facebook, let us know and we can work with you to post your event to our groups (and let you administer your party)
4. Organize yourself and throw your party!
Make sure you have an adequate tv/dvd. Think about food and party theme.
Send some information (from the toolkit) about the Great Bear Rainforest to your guests before the event so they can arrive prepared. Encourage them to go to www.greenpeace.ca to check out the pages on the Great Bear Rainforest.
Read the background material in the downloadable toolkit and make copies for people to take home at the end of the evening. Prepare some questions to spark the discussion after the video. For example: Have you ever been to the Great Bear Rainforest? What did you learn in the video that you didn’t know before? What do you think are some factors that contributed to the success of Greenpeace’s rainforest work? What is so special about the Great Bear Rainforest? One-third of the forest is saved from the chainsaw, what more is left to be done for the rainforest?
Create an action plan for how your group will make a difference after the movie night. Start off by writing personal letters at the party to the British Columbia government. There is a sample and tips for letter writing on the website for you to print off and share.
Have everyone sign in using the sign up sheet in the toolkit so that people can stay in touch.
Contact Greenpeace with any questions.
